The Cherry's
Wink Cherry and his wife, Reina, have been a part of campus life as teachers and coaches. They know first-hand the power of influence of a coach's lifestyle on his or her athletes. Both have seen the need for spiritual nourishment in our schools today. As a result, Wink and Reina are committed to ministering to the coaches on various campuses. Coaches are natural leaders with a critical and phenomenal opportunity to introduce our next generation to the love of Jesus Christ. COACHES HONOR is a ministry where discipleship is foremost. Wink and Reina are encouraging models of the Christian faith. They have three sons (Jay, Eliott and Luke) who are their primary mission field.

God has led me on an incredible journey the past three years. After graduating from college (Point Loma University 04), my plan was to work in San Diego, CA for an advertising agency. Instead I enrolled in an intensive Bible and Leadership training program in Branson, Missouri that was affiliated with Dallas Theological Seminary.
A year later, in the Spring of 05, I was offered a position to start a ministry called K-Life, in Jacksonville, Florida. The target of this ministry was middle school and high school students. Shortly after moving here, I met Wink and Reina, and immediately felt an embrace from them and COACHES HONOR.
We have shared the ups and downs of ministry life and prayed for each other on many different fronts. Recently, I felt God has given me a desire to work alongside Wink; I love the platform of coaches and athletics because of the impact a high school coach had on my life. It excites me to envision the ways God is going to steer this ministry, to partner with Wink in the field, to organize mission trips with coaches and kids, and to share my life with a man I respect deeply.
I am so very thankful for this opportunity that God is giving Jamie and me. No doubt, it will be a great adventure!

Our family is excited to be a part of the great work God is doing within and through COACHES HONOR. LeAna and I have been blessed with 2 amazing kids, Canaan and Bella, and our family has been loved, encouraged, and poured into by the COACHES HONOR family for years. I first experienced COACHES HONOR in 1995, when Wink started meeting with me while I was a young, fresh-out-of-college, coach at Nease High School. His consistency in pointing me back to the truth of scripture helped me stay focused on living and coaching for the glory of the Lord and not for my own glory. He reminded me that my value is found in Christ alone and not based on the numbers on a scoreboard.
After 8 years as a teacher and coach, I had the opportunity to work for 6 years as a Youth Pastor with high school and college students. In those years, LeAna and I have been partners in ministry and we have learned how important it is for young people to have men and women pouring truth into their lives. On any given campus, a teacher/coach has such a vital opportunity to care for student's hearts and share with them the love of Christ.
I believe the greatest call in the world is to be ambassadors of the love and grace of Jesus Christ. Everything we do flows from knowing we are His and that we are loved by Him. Wink once told me the greatest thing you can do as a coach, as a husband, and as a dad is to know Jesus better. I am excited about getting to know Jesus better, and the opportunity to share that truth with coaches, dads, and husbands across this community.
With that being said, I believe God has called me to COACHES HONOR to influence those who have influence on so many others!
2 Corinthians 5:20-21 says,
“So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” (NLT)
